A prototype of a Novec 649 diphasic thermosiphon have been developed to demonstrate principle of operation. Developed prototype have been used to obtain cooling results at different operating points, quantification of diphasic heat exchange coefficient vs. surface texturing, and comparison to water cooling solution. Diphasic thermosiphon thermal model has been developed together with design rules and perspectives for improvements.
Principle have been demonstrated experimentally.
Autonomous, isolated cooling, operating from -40 ° C to + 40 ° C and “green” (nonflammable, non-explosive, non-hazardous to health, low GWP and no effect on the ozone layer).
