Congratulations to Sébastien Silvant, who has been awarded the IEEE PES 2024 Outstanding Engineer Prize for his work on HVDC network interoperability!

The subject of interoperability has been on Sébastien’s mind for years now. He began working with several European partners as early as 2020, laying the groundwork for what would later become the large-scale InterOPERA project. The project officially launched in January 2023 in Lyon. As project coordinator, Sébastien leads the project management and works to ensure that the collaboration between each of the 21 project partners runs smoothly throughout the 4-year project!

InterOPERA’s main objective is to make future high-voltage direct current (HVDC) systems mutually compatible and interoperable, and to improve the grid forming capabilities of offshore and onshore converters. High priority work for the development of multi-terminal HVDC networks and the massive integration of renewable energies.

Thank you to the French Chapter of the IEEE Power & Energy Society for this recognition, and congratulations again to Sébastien!
