Hybrid, centralized and distributed, control of MVDC network for linear PV power plant

To reduce carbon emissions, the future electric power system must accommodate more renewable sources of energy. Solar energy collection using PV panels has become one of the main solutions. PV power plants require large land surfaces for their installations but linear PV power plants along roads, railroads or rivers could allow to reduce the environmental footprint. This paper analyses the control strategy of the medium voltage DC collection network of a linear PV power plant. A hybrid control strategy, combining central and distributed controllers, is proposed. The control has been validated in simulation using a model of a future full-scale demonstrator developed in the frame of OPHELIA project.
