An exciting week at Jicable’23!

What a week! We were delighted to meet up with the cable ecosystem in Lyon for Jicable’23. The Institute was present throughout the event, with numerous scientific presentations, a tutorial on MVDC grid perspectives (a captivating subject!), our company’s stand… We chaired one scientific session, and we even opened our doors to visitors for the technical visit on the last day of the conference.

There was one additional surprise highlight of the conference for us: the silver medal awarded to our engineer, Caterina Toigo, in the Young Research Contest for her paper “DC time constant evaluation for HVDC GIS cable accessories“. Caterina’s paper presents its evaluation through simulations in a cable GIS termination under different conditions, showing the importance of the AC-DC time constant knowledge for the determination of a pertinent test program for these types of accessories.

There were some very interesting exchanges during the conference in response to the varied requests we received from the other attendees. Be it discussions around the growing need for HVDC tests for cable manufacturers around the world, or requests for our expertise in innovative insulating materials (with several people curious about our innovative anhydride-free epoxy resin), the conference was very instructive, and it’s clear that the cable ecosystem is in the midst of an exciting period, full of new developments and specific needs!

We look forward to continuing these discussions over the coming weeks! Let’s keep in touch!
