For the third year in a row, SuperGrid Institute has been ranked in the Top 10 SME patent applicants in France, following the publication of the INPI rankings on Tuesday the 8th of June. With 14 new patent applications in 2020, the institute of energy transition finds itself in 4th place, demonstrating once again its dynamic drive for innovation in its work to develop the electricity network of the future. The company also retains its place in the Top 10 companies that co-filed patents resulting from collaboration between industry, academia and/or public research.

SuperGrid Institute has proudly maintained its place in the Top 10 ever since the creation of the SME category in the French National Institute of Industrial Property’s rankings in 2018, earning 1st place in 2018, 2nd in 2019 and 4th in 2020. The company, which is based in Villeurbanne (Lyon), has 64 patent families. 14 new patent applications were filed in 2020, including 8 resulting from a research/industry/State collaboration. SuperGrid Institute therefore retains its place in the Top 10 companies co-filing patents with research establishments, higher education institutions and public organisations (the only SME in this ranking).

“This award is a wonderful recognition of the intellectual property strategy implemented within the institute and of our exceptionally talented researchers and their work for energy transition.”
